Intellectual Property – New Technologies
Martin has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2004. He holds a postgraduate degree in Communication Technology Law from the University of Poitiers, under the supervision of Professor Lucas. His thesis,“The Restructuring of the Music Industry: A New Approach to Phonograms,”foreshadowed the changes that would take place in this sector. He worked for six years at the Simon Tahar law firm, which specializes in music law, and then for six years at the Gilles Vercken law firm. He established his own practice in 2014 and founded the Towery law firm in 2017.
He primarily represents clients in the creative, entertainment, communications, and media sectors, particularly in the fields of music—where he has a strong reputation—anti-counterfeiting, audiovisual media, literary publishing, advertising, and trademark law.
He founded the Towery law firm with the aim of offering clients not only an industry-specific approach tailored to the challenges of their sector, but also experts in the major areas of law.
Since 2011, Martin has been a lecturer in the Master’s 2 program in Law of New Information and Communication Technologies at Versailles-Saint Quentin. He teaches intellectual property litigation.
Recognizing the inherent limitations of litigation, Martin devotes a significant portion of his practice to alternative dispute resolution methods, particularly mediation. He has completed training in business-to-business mediation offered by the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry and holds a diploma from the Paris Bar Association’s International School of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
An avid golfer, Martin is the president of the Golf Club du Palais association. He is also a member of the Golf de Saint-Germain committee, where he chairs the course and environmental committee.

A lawyer since 2006, Olivier founded the TOWERY law firm in 2017 after gaining experience at various smaller law firms. Since then, he has headed the Corporate and Commercial Law Practice Group.
Olivier advises corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, business leaders, and partners at every stage of a company’s life cycle—from formation to sale, including all intermediate phases—such as external growth transactions, restructurings, fundraising, management buy-ins, the acquisition or sale of business assets, and commercial leases…
With nearly 20 years of experience in business law advisory and litigation, he has developed a constructive and pragmatic approach, as well as expertise in private equity transactions, distressed M&A, the acquisition or sale of business assets (particularly in the hotel and restaurant sectors), the drafting of commercial leases, and corporate litigation (post-acquisition disputes, conflicts between partners, directors’ liability, etc.), commercial lease litigation, managing complex situations, and waging sometimes difficult battles to safeguard clients’ interests.
Olivier is also well-versed in the specific regulations governing the practice of the liberal professions (notaries, attorneys, certified public accountants, architects, etc.) and regularly assists them in structuring their businesses in collaboration with the Tax Practice Group.
Olivier knows how to listen to his clients and ask them questions to understand their constraints and their goals, explain proposed solutions in a clear and accessible way, and take a constructive approach during negotiations to reach an agreement that meets the expectations of all parties and avoids getting stuck on a deal-breaker. When managing complex cases, Olivier places particular importance on building close relationships with each of his clients, as this ensures a thorough understanding of the cases and, ultimately, success.
Her background in accounting and taxation enables her to understand her clients’ issues from a holistic perspective, while drawing on the Tax Division to develop a customized solution.
Working alongside the Tax Practice Group, Olivier assists in structuring complex transactions while ensuring tax optimization.
Working alongside the Restructuring Practice, he assists with the acquisition or restructuring of companies in financial distress.
Working alongside the Intellectual Property Practice Group, he assists artists, managers, and professionals in the music, audiovisual, and film industries with the establishment and growth of their publishing, production, or other companies (incorporation, fundraising, legal support, mergers and acquisitions, etc.)
He holds a Master's degree in business law and a Master's degree in finance.
Olivier is a member of the ACE Association.
Outside the office—and because there’s more to life than just the law—when he’s not going out of his way to spend time with his happy family, Olivier enjoys playing golf with his partners (and, if possible, beating them), especially on the fabulous St-Germain course, and discussing the latest golf news with them—even if it means risking boring the non-golfers at the firm!

Samuel SCHERMAN
Partner
Corporate Restructuring Law
After completing a general legal education with a focus on litigation, Samuel shifted his practice to two main areas that often complement each other: the law governing distressed companies and general business litigation.
He began his career working alongside a leading figure in insolvency and litigation, both at his independent firm and at various international law firms based in Paris (Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson and Willkie Farr & Gallagher). Samuel then joined Hogan Lovells as counsel before becoming a partner at a boutique firm specializing in distressed companies and litigation, and later at TOWERY.
With over twenty years of experience in these various organizations, he has gained a broad understanding of businesses and their operating environments, enabling him to advise both large corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Samuel advises parties seeking to acquire distressed companies (investment funds, private investors, and other businesses), whether as part of a divestiture plan or a preventive restructuring process. He also advises companies in financial distress on both preventive measures (ad hoc mandates and conciliation) and collective proceedings (sauvegarde, redressement, and liquidation judiciaires), as well as creditors of companies in financial distress. In his view, the key to success in this field lies in a thorough understanding of his clients and restructuring professionals, as well as in the early diagnosis and resolution of the difficulties encountered.
His extensive experience in complex litigation also enables him to advise companies and/or their shareholders on the various disputes they may encounter.
The complementary nature of its services to those of TOWERY’s other partners enables it to offer personalized support tailored to every aspect of a company’s operations.
Samuel is a member of the Association for Corporate Turnaround, Insol Europe, and the ACE. He has also taught courses as part of the insolvency proceedings track at the Paris Bar Training School and has led training sessions on the restructuring of distressed LBOs.
Outside of work, Samuel explores Paris on his bike, practices Muay Thai and yoga. He’s always up for trying out a new restaurant with good company.
